John Rockwell

Julia Sagebien

In this episode, Julia talks with Ashe Acharya John Rockwell. We asked Mr. Rockwell to describe his title for our listening audience. Below is his reply.

"The title Ashe Acharya originated during the time when the Sakyong first proclaimed the view of Shambhala Buddhism. Based on this vision and with his blessing, we created the Shambhala Office of Practice and Education. This brought together in one office both Shambhala Training and Vajradhatu Practice and Education, which previously had operated independently. I was asked to head that office, and the title was intended to express the view of joining Shambhala and buddhadharma-—Ashe being the Shambhala aspect and Acharya being the more Buddhist side." -John Rockwell
